Guide
Measure once, so the replacement fits first time.
A refill that is nearly right is the most expensive kind. These are the measurements that decide whether it fits.
Flat mop pads
Start with the frame, not the old pad. Old pads have usually shrunk.
- Frame length, tip to tip, with the frame unfolded and flat.
- Frame width at the widest point.
- Attachment: pockets that slip over the ends, a hook-and-loop plate, or flaps and clips.
- Pocket depth on a pad that fits well, measured from the seam to the folded edge.
- For hook-and-loop, the plate size and a close photo of the hook face.
Round mop heads
Socket threads differ between handle makers, and a head that screws on two turns and binds will not last a shift.
- Handle brand and model — the single most useful fact.
- Socket photo next to a ruler, looking into the socket.
- Thread outside diameter of the handle end, if you have callipers.
- Weight, and whether the number you buy by includes the socket. A 400 g head with a 40 g socket carries 360 g of yarn.
- For clip handles: the tailband width the clip takes.
Shrinkage check. Will the pad still fit after laundering?
40.3 cm after washing,
A planning aid, not a guarantee. Fit is confirmed only by testing a washed sample on your own frame.
